Mack and Mabel
Theatrical scenery, backcloth & show information
This beautifully decorated permanently positioned set, designed in the art deco style of the 1920's sets the scene for the silent movie era and the triumphs and turbulent romance between famous film director Mack Sennett and Mabel Normand his greatest star.
The scenery is designed to allow slick scene changes with the clever positioning of a moveable truck on each side of the stage that swings round to face the audience on each its own central pivot.
The studio, office, dressing room and train exterior and compartment interior are portrayed seamlessly by this method and the trucks can 'rest' in the wings, facilitating pre-sets and allowing plenty of space for the big full stage numbers.
Rostra at the back of the stage gives height and depth.
